The tennis section of the club was founded in 1904 and for over 110 years has been at the heart of Urmston community. The amazing recent progress of Urmston Tennis Club on Moorside Road, Urmston continues at pace . The Club, which has turned around from almost closure 10 years ago, has grown to 140 members and now has three men’s and two ladies, two Winter League (mixed doubles) teams plus a very vibrant junior section.  We are proud to have recently raised and invested £100,000 in new facilities and machinery allowing year round play and the choice of three surfaces on 11 courts including 3 brand new top quality All weather Tiger Turf Astro Courts and five traditional grass courts, as well as the newly refurbished, Italian Red Clay courts, of which there are three. We also have a practice wall for when you turn up on your own or whilst you wait for your partner to arrive. Having completed the first 4 phases of our 5 phase redevelopment plan, we are now working towards floodlighting, to enable more all year round play, to add to the significant amount of tennis that currently takes place.

As you will see, we offer team play , coaching and other structured sessions but we are also at heart, a community club and with 11 courts to choose from (six during the winter), it's very much a "turn up and play" club too, so don't be shy, you will be made very welcome and there is no need to book!

​

We have a team of professional tennis coaches that provide group coaching sessions for men, ladies and our junior members. They are also available for one to one coaching sessions. Throughout the week at Urmston Lawn Tennis Club we have a range of activities; Ladies coaching (stopped for the winter due to lack of light), Ladies & Men's matches, Tots & Junior coaching and social tennis. Throughout the year we also have many social events for our members; Mixed mini tournaments, tennis festivals and our end of season tennis celebration, which involves Men's and Ladies singles, doubles and mixed doubles.
